OBJECTIVES

  • Evaluate the peer education program of the Red Cross in Rwanda
  • Study the personal, social, cultural, political, economic
    and other determinants of sexual risk behaviour among young people in Rwanda
  • Study the needs of young people concerning HIV prevention
  • Formulate recommendations for the adaptation of peer education
    program based on the determinants of sexual risk behaviour and the needs of the
    young people
  • Develop an adapted program based on the identified determinants and the needs of the young people
  • Examine the preferred prevention method of the Rwandan youth

METHODS

  • Quantitative methods: standardized questionnaires
  • Qualitative methods: group analysis and focus group discussions

  • Field study in Rwanda
  • Training of Rwandan researchers
  • Study the determinants of sexual risk behaviour and the needs of the young people
  • Examine to what extent the existing peer education program involves
    the determinants of sexual risk behaviour and to what extent it answers to the
