OBJECTIVES
- To assess the magnitude of the practise of early and/or forced marriage in Kaijado District, Kenya
- To acquire a deeper understanding of the consequences of the practice on the girl child’s education
- To develop new innovative ideas to help alleviate the practice
ACTIVITIES
- Desk study: collecting data from statistical offices, education office
- In depth interviews with key persons (government representatives such as chiefs and social workers in the district)
- Focus group discussions with youth (schoolgirls & boys) and their mothers
RESULTS
- Documented report with facts and factors behind the practice
