Seminar to launch EN-HERA!- the European Network for the Promotion of SRHR of Refugees & Asylum Seekers in Europe & beyond
EN-HERA!
The European Network for the Promotion of SRHR of Refugees & Asylum Seekers in Europe & beyond
The recognition of sexual and reproductive health, health rights and needs of refugees and asylum seekers in the EU has only recently started to develop. There are no binding EU regulations for the integration of these health rights in reception and integration policies that guarantee full entitlement of refugees and asylum seekers to a comprehensive range of services. This situation is in sharp contrast with the EU commitment to promote and protect Sexual and Reproductive Health rights as a basic human right worldwide.
The overall aim of this project is to improve the sexual and reproductive health of refugees, asylum seekers and (un)documented migrants in the European Union through the setting-up of a European Network for the Promotion of Sexual and Reproductive Health of Refugees and Asylum Seekers in Europe and Beyond (EN-HERA!) and through the development of a standardized good practice identification framework for refugees and asylum seekers in policy development, service delivery and participatory approach.
On Friday the 21st of November a seminar will be organised at Monastery Poortackere at the Oude Houtlei 56 in Ghent to launch the network.
During the seminar we also wish to present the project and the research results, the research agenda for the future and the draft of the framework. In the afternoon you will have the opportunity to discuss the framework extensively. Different workshops will be organised in different sessions to further refine the draft and arrive at a framework that really identifies good practices for refugees and asylum seekers. The conclusions of these workshops will be presented and further discussed at a plenary session. Afterwards you will have the possibility to share good practices in the café contact with poster presentations that will bring this day to its conclusion.
