The International Centre for Reproductive Health (ICRH) was established in 1994 in response to the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD, Cairo, 1994). ICRH Kenya was established as an international NGO in the year 2000.
ICRH is a multidisciplinary centre operating within the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Ghent University. Besides research activities, ICRH implements projects in Europe, Latin America, Africa and Asia with a focus on developing training programmes and takes actions to defend sexual and reproductive rights.
ICRH and climate change
ICRH operations involve quite some traveling and therefore contributes considerably to climate change.
In order to limit our carbon footprint, we systematically compensate for the CO2 emissions of our airmiles. We do this through CompenCO2, a specialized NGO established by the Belgian environmental and North-South movements. The compensation fees are invested in climate-friendly development projects in Africa.

- Marleen Temmerman heeft woensdagnacht in Londen een Lifetime Achievement Award gekregen van de British Medical Journal, een toonaangevende website over de medisch-wetenschappelijke sector. Temmerman, die hoofd is van de vrouwenafdeling van het UZ in Gent en ook de leiding heeft van het International Centre for Reproductive Health (ICRH), werd verkozen uit meer dan honderd kandidaten wereldwijd. 'Ik ben blij en trots, en vind de prijs vooral belangrijk omdat hij de thema's waar ik mee bezig ben opnieuw onder de belangstelling brengt', aldus Temmerman in een eerste reactie vanuit Londen.
Op maandag 8 maart 2010 wordt het nieuwste boek ”Vrouwen onder druk” van Dr. Els Leye en Dr. Prof. Marleen Temmerman voorgesteld van 12u30 tot 15u30 in de Griffioen te Gent (Koningstraat 1).
De boekvoorstelling gebeurt in de vorm van een panelgesprek dat wordt geleid door ex-VRT journaliste Kris Smet met oa. Dr. Els Leye, Dr. Prof. Marleen Temmerman en Ines Keygnaert als panelleden.
